You have to add new ideas and concepts that you stay current and relevant. Failure to do so is business suicide and not good for new clients and sales.
In the world of sports, they say that if you do not endeavour to get better, you are actually going backwards and even getting worse. The same is true about business.
If you are fighting foe market share or even just to make ends meet, if you stop bringing new and updated products or services to the that market, you will never gain any more than what you have already. Holding onto market share without bringing something new to the table, is almost impossible.
Picture this. A car manufacturer brinhs out a car and it is a great seller. Instead of updating and tweaking the “bugs” out of the car, they keep it exactly the same year after year. They have a market share but holding onto it becomes increasingly impossible.
