An Accountant does what?
The burning question that gets asked frequently is this: “What do accountants actually do”? The answer can be as simple and as complex as the accountant wants it to be. I do not like answers to questions to be complex. This is because 9 times out of 10, it just confuses people.
The answer I give is this: An accountant is someone who produces a set of financial statements after recording all the information of the business.
The financial statements can come in many forms. These can range from monthly reports to a fully IFRS compliant set of audited annual financial statements. For the small business owner, they are monthly reports about what the business has done over the month. These are given to the business timeously. This enables the owner to make decisions on how and where to go with the business.
Yearly financial statements
The small business does need a complicated annual financial statements. They can be done by the accountant. This is in the form of an independent review or compilation report. This has to be done by an independent person though. if you outsource your accounting function, such as to BC Accounting Services (BCAS) , that accountant can perform this function.
BCAS can offer you as much and as little as you would like in terms of your accounting function. In that information that is recorded, is the salaries and wages function (payroll). BCAS offer this service. This is a critical part of your business and needs to be performed correctly. As stated above, BCAS can provide the accounting function to annual financial statement level. We also offer the taxation service. This is where we take those statements and submit them to SARS in the relevant tax returns. This can be on a business level or a personal level.
All for a set fee?
BCAS provide these services on a monthly retainer fee. This fee includes all the above services in one fee monthly. There are no surprise invoices for you. You can budget that exact amount for a year.*
If you would like BCAS to help you with any or all of the above services, please contact us and we can sit down and have a chat.
