You have an update, please do not switch you computer off”.
“This may take a few minutes”
This is an annoying message to receive when you either shut down at the end of the day or press start at the beginning of the day. Having said that, they are important so you should not ignore them for too long.
In every industry, there are always advancements being made. These are critical to keep up with the technological advancements and the needs of the customers.
Keeping up to date.
For some professions, accountants for example, these updates are to keep abreast with the changes in the laws applicable to us. Attorneys, medical doctors and accountants, amongst others, have to do training to remain current with such changes. For accountants, these are called continual professional development (CPD) points. One earns these by doing seminars, webinars and reading the latest literature available. It is about 1 hours for every point. Depending on your level if qualification and the level of expertise, the number required can be as much 50 per year. That’s about 1 hour per week.
You can think of it as exercising our industry muscle. This is all so we can serve our clients with the most up to date knowledge of our industry.
